Good new and bad news

Good News

We travelled at the front end of the plane and could see into the cockpit before take-off - exciting!
Before boarding I managed to drop my laptop from the re-packing table, but it is still working!
We got upgraded (at least within economy) and had extra leg room, so it was not so cramped.

Bad News

Someone got ill and as we were going over the Western Australian coast near Port Hedland, we were diverted to Perth. 1.5 hours flight, 1.5 hours on the ground and with making up the extra distance we were 4 hours late into Dubai. Unfortunately our connecting flight had flown. So we are on the same flight out the next day. Hopefully we will find our way to the boat.

Good News

Complimentary hotel (so-so quality) and meals.
We are off to discover Dubai today.
